Description: You’re invited to the Extreme Heat & Health: Strategies for Prevention and Action Training hosted by OPHA! This virtual series will help you talk about extreme heat in ways that inspire action and explore how we can better protect our health together.

Continuing Education: Up to 1.5 hours CPH & CHES are available from this webinar. Up to 4 hours CE may be earned through series completion. Attendees seeking continuing education or certificates of attendance must request their credits from OPHA through this linked survey within a week of the event or at end of series if attending all sessions.

Learning Areas: Professional Development

Learning Objectives:

Describe concept of extreme heat.
Recognize risk factors, symptoms, and treatment for heat-related illnesses.

Continuing Education Fees: OPHA members pay no cost to attend and receive CE credits provided by OPHA. OPHA also provides continuing education to Oklahoma CHWs at no cost — thank you for your work improving Oklahoma's communities! All other attendees will be invoiced $15 per credit hour upon credit request effective July 1, 2024.

Continuing Education Attendance & Evaluation Policy: OPHA offers professional development opportunities and pursues approvals from credentialing bodies to offer continuing education. OPHA strives to meet the standards and competencies of credentialing agencies, and therefore attendance at an OPHA CE event does not guarantee credit. CE-seeking attendees must complete our credits and attendance certificate survey, linked here and on OPHA's homepage, for each event so that OPHA's Continuing Education Committee can ensure attendance, demonstrated learning, and provide requested CE event certificates to attendees on a quarterly basis. CE credits are ultimately awarded to participant by credentialing agency/body upon event and survey completion and the attendee reporting our provided activities.

This OPHA programming is in partnership with APHA, Climate for Health, and EcoAmerica.

President-Elects from every Affiliate, including OPHA's own Sara Low, will be convening in Washington, D.C., for APHA's annual President-Elect Bootcamp, taking place July 11-14. This training provides inter-Affiliate networking and prepares incoming leaders with the tools and support they need for a successful term.

OPHA offered 10 CPH and CHES (NCHEC provider #101897) credits at our 2025 conference. We anticipate offering a similar number of continuing education credits during the 2026 conference. Certificates of attendance will also be available. Please express interest in additional credit types for the Conference Committee's consideration to tracy@okpublichealth.org at your earliest convenience so we may explore offering additional credit types.
