CALL FOR RESEARCH POSTER ABSTRACTS – now closed!

Our call for research poster abstracts on Oklahoma-based research, program evaluations, etc. from various domains of health closed on Friday, August 15th. Thank you for everyone's interest and support! We have received the largest amount of submissions in over 4 years! We will have posters sessions on both Monday, September 15th and Tuesday, September 16th.

Presenters for our conference must be active OPHA members and also register for the conference; registration fees are NOT waived for speakers.

    STUDENT POSTER CONTEST

OPHA's Student Poster Contest is back! This year's OPHA conference will include a student poster contest with cash prizes and recognition at our annual awards ceremony, scheduled for Monday, September 15th during the conference in Edmond! Prizes include $500 for 1st Place, $300 for 2nd Place, $200 for 3rd Place, and $100 for People's Choice. Note:

    1. Only one presenting author should submit a recorded audio/video presentation, and only this presenter will represent the poster on the day of the event.

    2. Students entering more than one poster may only place with one poster.

    3. The People's Choice winner may be awarded to placed or unplaced presentations.

    4. Student presenters must be OPHA members and registered for the conference by August 21st.

    5. To foster student professional development, we ask that the pre-recorded videos and presentations are not directly facilitated by faculty members.

    6. Students are welcome to submit their research abstracts even if not electing to participate in the contest.

Please review the official Student Poster Presentation Guide & Rubric and detailed submission steps and information below. Poster abstracts will be accepted until Friday, August 15th, and contest recorded materials must be submitted via Google Form by Friday, August 29th, 5:00 PM CT.

    1. Submit your poster abstract by Friday, August 15th at 11:59 PM. Indicate if you wish to participate in the contest on the submission form.

    2. Complete your poster, being sure to create a digital version you can easily share while you record or add to a single PowerPoint or Google Slides slide.

    3. Record your 3-minute presentation. We recommend using the recording features on PowerPoint or Zoom. You must have your webcam on and actively “present” for the recording. Submissions with only voiceovers will lose points and presentations exceeding 3 minutes will lose points.

    4. Upload your video to YouTube, being sure to including the following details:

      a. Title your video “First Name Last Name 2025 OPHA Poster Contest”.

      b. Make the Description of your video the title of your poster presentation.

      c. Set your video to be Unlisted or Public so that you may submit the link to OPHA for judging.

    5. Submit a digital copy of your poster and your YouTube video’s link to the Poster Contest Submission Form no later than Friday, August 29th at 11:59pm. Note that you will be asked to sign in to Google to complete the form.

    6. Judges will review and score the posters and recordings prior to the conference event (feedback & scores will not be shared publicly).

    7. Arrive 15 minutes early to your scheduled poster session on September 15th, and be prepared to discuss your poster with conference attendees and judges traveling through the posters. Judges may ask you to very succinctly explain your research methods, or the impact on public health, or how your project relates to health in Oklahoma.

This year's cash prizes are generously funded through donations from OPHA’s Board Giving Fund. Students, your ideas and passion are what drive public health forward. Keep learning, keep growing—and know that your contributions matter!
