OPHA offers conference awards each year to celebrate and uplift public health professionals who are positively impacting public health outcomes and practice in Oklahoma. This year, OPHA will be offering both general and section awards! Award submissions open Monday, May 19th at 5:00 PM Central and close Monday, June 16th at 11:59 PM Central. Please contact Awards Subcommittee Chair Rebekah Doyle at doylera@nsuok.edu with any questions.

CALL FOR RESEARCH ABSTRACTS

It's time to submit research abstracts! New this year, we are separating our call for abstracts on research-based posters and oral presentations from our call for presentations, panels, etc on public health practice, programs, and work in-progress. Submitted abstracts will go through formal peer review while submissions for practice-based sessions will not. All research abstracts are due Tuesday, June 15th and are to be submitted through this form. Please be prepared to input the following elements for all research-based abstracts.

  • Presenting author name, pronouns, bio (limited to 75 words), and credentials
  • Additional author names, pronouns, and credentials
  • Abstract title (limited to 25 words)
  • Abstract text (limited to 250 words) which MUST include background, objective(s), methods, results, and conclusion sections
  • Preferred format (oral or poster)
  • At least 3 learning outcomes, beginning with action verbs (see examples), that describe what the audience will learn from the presented research


CALL FOR SPEAKERS

It's time to submit to speak about your practice-based programs, initiatives, and works in progress! New this year, we are separating our call for speaking presentations, panels, etc on public health practice, such as community initiatives and health programs, from our call for abstracts on research posters and oral presentations. Speaker submissions will NOT go through formal peer review while abstracts will. All submissions for these sessions are due Tuesday, June 15th and are to be submitted through this form. Please be prepared to input the following elements for all sessions.

  • Primary presenter name, pronouns, bio (limited to 75 words), and credentials
  • Additional presenter names, pronouns, and credentials
  • Session title (limited to 25 words)

    UCO & NIGH UNIVERSITY CENTER

    OPHA is thrilled to be hosting this year's conference at UCO in Edmond, and we hope you're excited, too! Please check for information about our hosting university — such as maps, parking information, food, and more — below. We'll post information as finalized.

    • Parking for both days of conference will be in UCO's Visitor Lot 10. Parking will be FREE.
    • The City of Edmond has a free bus service, CityLink, around Edmond and the downtown OKC area.
    • UCO has several severe weather shelters around campus, including in our conference building, the Nigh University Center.


    CONFERENCE HOTEL

    OPHA's Conference Committee has secured a room block with the Hilton Garden Inn Edmond / Oklahoma City North for this year's annual conference! Block rates for 2 queen and 1 king-bed rooms are available Sunday, September 14 and Monday, September 15 at $116 per night, excluding taxes. Government rates are available to state employees. Check in time is 3:00 PM on day of arrival and check out is at 12:00 PM on day of departure. If the room block is full, please contact tracy@okpublichealth.org.

    CONTINUING EDUCATION

    OPHA is planning to offer CPH and CHES credits at our 2025 conference. Certificates of attendance will also be available. Please express interest in additional credit types to OPHA's Conference Committee to admin@okpublichealth.org at your earliest convenience so we may explore offering additional credit types.
